day 115 (3600 miles)

Its nice to be a way from the downtown area. Even stretching out into the suburbs, I sensed I needed to keep a close eye on my bicycle. I found a church that happened to be serving a super last night. It was nice to have a warm meal. They had a guest evangelist and much focus was on him and his family. When I left 2 very nice young ladies talked me and gave me a dollar and some change to get something to eat later. With this money I was able to park the sign in front of a Jack in the Box for a couple of hours this morning. I was also able to get out of the cold. Its not nearly as cold here in the Phoenix area, but it still cool. It does warm up and feel real nice in the afternoon. Praying for food for the journey I found some donuts on a park bench. I'm convince they were left for me. After going to a church, in an extremely wealthy area and being told they couldn't help with food or a bicycle inner tube. A man driving by stopped me and gave me 3 dollars, just enough for a spare tube. I didn't think it wise to go out in the desert with out a spare. While trying to find a library, a community center gave me a voucher for the local food pantry. While leaving the community center a christian man gave me his testimony and gave me another contribution. This enabled me to park the bike in front of another Jack in the Box. This location definitely had a larger traffic volume. I'm leaving the sign the same today. I really think we need to be reminded that Christ gave us 2 commands, love God, and love your neighbor as yourself. The way we do things in the American Church, I wonder if Christ sees us doing these two commands. Christ came to heal, love, and forgive, the problem is I don't think Americans see their lack of compassion for the poor as sin. After all, as long as we give our 10 percent were doing fine. Ask your local pastor, the same one that has the no trespassing sign on his Church. The same one that tells you to go some where else to get help. Do unto others how you would want to be treated? I dare say 90 percent of churches don't want to be treated very well when Christ returns. " As you did to the least of mine, you've done to me". Again, If your reading this, please pray for forgiveness, and accept God's unconditional gift of grace. If you don't see something as sin you can't be forgiven. Make a personal choice to accept Christ's gift now. Have a great day, your Friend Dan
