Day82 (2800 miles)

God has enabled me to spend this week in two very special households. On Sunday night a very nice man made me dinner and allowed me to stay at his home. Then, on Monday a family of four offered to allow me to stay. I appreciate the faith both these households have shown by allowing a christian brother, they have never met before to share their lives. I've been able to volunteer at a secular school festival and a church festival this week. God has provided an answer of a prayer I had in regards to loneliness. Many people in this small community have shown christian love. The family has donated so many camping supplies, as well as a new used bicycle to my mission. Rumor has it that an anonymous donor has graciously offered to buy me a new bible which will be red lettered and have a concordance in it. I so much appreciate the opportunity this community has afforded me. Today's sign reads " In the last days God will pour out his spirit on everyone." This is Acts 2:17a. Today someone emailed me an article about how, as Americans we are so blessed, and that we should count our blessings. Thank you father for all you do, have a great day, Daniel

Day 79 (2800 miles)

A lot has happened during the last 5 days. I camped at a couple different camp sights. Although in a remote forest in Arkansas God still brought people of faith in my life. Debating if I go directly West or go South to warmer weather then West, I haven't had clear direction. Sunday morning I clearly heard that I should go towards Dallas. Sunday evening I was looking for a church in which I could feel Christian love, and boy did God bless me. Sticking to my rule of not mentioning names, I won't mention the name of the church, I really believe God will bless this church for their faith. I was welcomed and really felt God's spirit during this service. I sure am glad I stoped at this church. I know there are good people in all the denominations. I can't stop imploring believers to individually be Christ here on earth, because if we don't do it, who will? When people at a church show unconditional love it radiates Christ's presence. We have all the commandments, follow all the rules, but if we have not love we really have nothing. Don't rely on anything or anyone for your link to God, its a personal choice to love God and your neighbor as yourself. It goes along with faith without works is dead, Mt. 25 clearly states, " when you do it to the least of these your doing it to me." During this time of fear, Christians have an opportunity to show their light more than ever, when we show love now days, we stick out. We have a great opportunity to let our lights shine. Today's sign reads " In the last days God will pour out his Spirit on everyone" Acts 2: 17a. I Thank everyone that has shared their experience, strength, and hope with me during this journey.

Day 75 (2700 miles)

Greetings from Mt. Ida AR. This is a small town of just under 1000 residents. I just got done fixing a flat tire at the Ranger station. The nice lady who gave me a map said she used to date a guy named Gibbs. The rain finally stopped last night around 10 or so. It was probably around 40 this morning, Everything I owned, clothes, maps, sleeping bag, got soaked. I had a flat tire yesterday and the tire was unfixable. I bought a new back tire, inner tube, and sleeping bag last night. The zipper on my bag was broke, and it was going to cost 3 or 4 dollars to dry it. A new bag cost 10 at Wall Mart. All I have is sandals and my feet are starting to get cold in the morning. I'll be looking for a garage sale for new shoes. Today's sign "Be strong, be courageous, all you that hope in the Lord." Ps. 31:24 The road is not a high volume traffic road, but It does get some traffic, I hope God will use the sign to encourage some. Have a great day, Daniel

Day 73 ( 2650 miles)

Central Arkansas sure is different than eastern Arkansas. There is a lot of big beautiful churches. Saturday night I slept along side a big Church of God in Benton. I was really hungry so I ate at an all you can eat. I got sick. I've had an infection in my mouth for about 5 days. I had a fever and was real tired. When I left Benton I got lost and went around in circles. Sometimes you ride into a community not knowing there is no way out except the way you went in. A man a Baptist church explained how to get back to the main road. Twenty miles down the road a lady yelled at me and said " what does your sign read?" I stopped and we had hamburgs, potato salad and a very nice meal. She was from the Church of Christ, and he was a Seventh day advent. I avoided conflicting with them on the idea of losing your salvation. Some times we really believe the same thing its just how we word it. We all felt God's love and forgiveness, and are grateful for all he is doing in our lives. Last night I spent the night in Hot Springs AR. The National Park Camp ground was 10.00. As I was riding on the way to the camp ground a lady gave me 10.00 out of the window of a moving car to pay for it. Curt and his wife, were both from Hot Springs and encouraged me to visit there. It looks like rain, I left the sign in the tent, its taking a day of rest. Yesterdays sign read " thank you for giving to the lord you will be so glad you gave". Out of the teaching in Matt 25. This ref was on the bottom as well as the cross. I'll probably spend one more night here. Please keep on praying love, Daniel

Day 71 (2600miles)

I've had a hard time finding an open library. Wednesday I went through Memphis TN.. They received some much needed rain. I went over the Mississippi River on the Int 55 bridge. The on ramp didn't say no pedestrians. There was a side walk on the side. It didn't look like it was used very often. Arriving in West Memphis AR. I was greeted to a flat tire right away. I found a motel for only 30 dollars and went in for the night. It stormed real bad, we actually had a tornado warning. The next day I rode against a 35 mile an hour wind. I had 2 flat tires, and I still have a slow leak. Two nights ago a cold front went through, it didn't stop the wind it just has been a colder wind. I finally made it to Little Rock. The "Run for a cure" was going on downtown so the streets were filled with people. A man at a pawn shop directed me to a local library branch where I'm writing to you from now. Today's sign reads " Love God, love your neigber as yourself". This is taken out of Luke 10. My email is daniel.gibbs@yahoo.com if anyone ever wants to say hi. The last few days have been particularly discouraging, I think it was because of the wind. Each day I've had several people honk going by the sign, I had a chance to talk to a few people today. Eastern Arkansas is very rural, and the economy isn't doing very good. Things seem to be better here in Little Rock. What a difference a few miles make, in TN. there was a ton of people and little water, in Ak. theres a ton of water and few people. What a beautiful day it is outside. I hope all of you have a good day. Your friend Daniel

Day 67 ( 2450 miles)

I had a chance to witness to five young people, and a family of about 4 children and a dad. The dad was asked to leave the parking lot of the hardware store in which he was selling raffle tickets. He had been given permission to sell the tickets by a clerk, but a higher level manager told him to move on. He claimed to be selling the tickets for fire fighting equipment. I usually take a persons word, and let God deal with him if hes lying. He shared his struggles with the different laws that are being passed. I passed on my message that we all need to make a personal choice to trust in Christ and his righteousness, not our country's wisdom. I love my country, but as the old testament Prophets seen trouble coming to Israel, so I see trouble coming to us. We claim to be " one nation under God" but we are continuing to push him out of every aspect of our existence. If you read this please thank God for what you have, and ask him to have mercy on us.
As for the trip, my bike chain broke down right as I left Waynesboro. Three young men came to help me, one claimed to know Christ as his savior, I witnessed to all 3 for about 20 or 30 minutes. They actually gave me a donation when I left. The chain broke again a half mile up the road. I could only use about 2 gears all the way to Savanah where I am now. I actually bought a motel room for a night and was able to stay out of the much needed rain that came down last night. I was also able to do much needed repairs inside in a dry controlled enviorment. The bike seems to be riding real good this morning. I watched a little TV, but I quickly noticed all the fear that the TV, is putting out. I can only pray that God will use this fear to draw people to him. I so often see that people are much, much less to trust and help people because of this fear. That's partly why today's sign comes from 1 John 5:12 b "If we love one another, God lives in us,and his love is perfected in us." Then a picture of a tree and small words " check the fruit". Only things done for God will matter at the end. I Hope you all have a great day.

Day 66 (2400)

I'm currently in Waynesboro TN. I've been traveling on route 64. For the most part its had a good shoulder on the side of the road for bikes. The whole state of Tennessee has been bicycle friendly. Saturday night after praying for God's direction as where to find a place to sleep, I was lead to a small baptist church outside of Fayetteville. A man was outside the building cutting the grass, preparing for Sunday worship. We shared some of our mutual concerns for the body of Christ and for America, he invited me to his home and his wife fixed a great dinner, and washed my clothes. They let me shower, and they let me sleep in their guest bed room. Its difficult to show this kind of trust and love in today's world, they have strong faith. This couple shared with me stories of their many ministry trips, and Hope they donated the building for the church. I left after attending Sunday school and church. Their pastor encouraged me to attend a demonstration for a cause in which in feels strongly lead. I thank God for men and women, because their love for God and their neighbors, they feel they must warn them about sin. My ministry is the bicycle sign. I love organizations that not just point a finger, but offer a huge helping hand to lead people to the heart and life changing blood of the Lamb. Many people feel God could not lead me to ride down the road with a bible verse on my back but I do, so I certainly don't ever want to discourage anyone who is lead by the loving heavenly father from serving him. Last night I was able to hear a message about sin lead by a very nice young pastor. The church allowed me to stay in their youth facility. A christian man brought me food and fresh clothing this morning. He shared with me his walk of faith and encouraged me in love. Where ever we are in life, we all face many challenges, I thank God for unconditional love. I don't have to be perfect, just accept his unconditional gift of love. Today's verse "But God commendeth his love towards us, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Rom. 5: 8. I did put the nrsv version of that. Thank you God for all you do. Have a great day everyone. Love Daniel

Day 64 (2300 miles)

I had to leave the computer yesterday because the library closed up and they said "go", I really wanted to talk more about my experience at Crossville. Christ did not come into the world to condemn any one, but to save us all who all who were already condemned. Crossville is probably no better or worse than any other town. Where ever God is making progress, evil fights back. It is my firm understanding that the accuser of the brother is evil. I want to thank all the good people who showed their love for me and the sign in Crossville. We are not responsible, for the actions of our family, our government, or even our church leaders. God weighs the hearts of individuals, we are not perfect, thank you lord for " being just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness". " there is no condemnation for those in Christ", don't rely on any ones righteousness but his, this is what the Word says. I don't ever want to come across as condemning others, but if the sign can have people search their hearts and grow closer to the just one, we have won a battle. I rely do love all of Crossville and hope God will continue to do miracles there.
The sign has now made its way down South 70 to hw 55. I'm planing on taking a Southern route across this truly beautiful state. Today I'm writing from a computer in the town of Tullahoma. Last night a pastor let me stay in a dorm set up for visiting Church groups. I thank God for the privilege to stay at such a place. Again I try not to mention names for two reasons, 1 God will give them their reward, and 2, I don't want to make a web for their feet.
As for today, you should of seen all the people viewing the sign at MacDonald's. The sign on that bike is so visible. I can often feel when clergy judges my ministry, but I'm telling you, you don't need dozens of monthly pledges and thousands of dollars going through mission organization to serve the Lord. The sign is living prof, it works. I pray God continues to put Godly people in the way of the sign to help. Thank you all for your faith, and may God bless you all. Yesterday, a pastor asked me " Why" as far as my ride goes so today's sign Read's"why?" Because he lives, he is the future, kings and kingdoms will pass away, but Christ will live forever". Then a picture of the cross and the words" blessed insurance". Thank you Lord that we don't need to be perfect, we just need to believe. I love you Lord, and you all Daniel

Day 63 (2250 miles)

God is still at work in Crossville. While leaving town I met a nice family at a garage sale which on leaving wanted to give me gloves to keep me warm. Down the road I stopped at another garage sale and a lady of strong faith seen the sign and wanted to bless me in any way she could. She donated all my purchases, provide a donation, and then learning I was tired from a lack of sleep the night before she offered to let me rest in her spare room. Assuring me her husband was a very kind man and wouldn't mind I agreed to take a nap and probably spend the night. A short time later a daughter arrived very upset, demanding that I leave the house. I love Jesus' teaching in the "B" attitudes, and I quickly wanted to leave. The lady insisted I stay. Shortly later another male relative came demanding that I leave, Jesus said he came to put devison among families and that certainly happened. Again I plead with all not to follow anyone other than Christ. We must overcome the evil of fear and show love like this nice lady bestowed on me. I pray God blesses her 10 fold. She suggested to days sign which reads "All things will be possible with God". On the bottom a picture of the cross, and the word faith I must go Love Daniel

Day62

I'm learning there is always 2 ways of looking at something. This morning my sign read "If its not love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, or gentleness + self control its not God. God is Love" While at MacDonald's, in Crossville TN., Someone thought it necessary to rip off my light and tear down my sign off the bike. It saddens me that someone would do this, yet I'm fortunate that's all that happened. All my worldly belongings are on the bike, they could have flattened the tires or done any kind of damage, so I am grateful that God was watching over the bike. It almost appeared some one or some thing intervened during the process. It appears even in small towns I need to watch the bike closer.
I sense the battle going on here is very strong. I went to a church for prayer meeting last night and only 1 person showed. She suggested I go up the road to the next church. I did so, and was pleased to arrive just a few minutes late. I didn't notice the sign saying kjv only. I was really uncomfortable with the lack of interest or love shown. I really believe we need to stop majoring on the minors and start walking and acting like Christ with love. I left and went back to the 1st church to sleep, and just as I was going to sleep a dog started barking, it would not stop, eventually I had to move. I really think that dog had something in it. I don't know if the spiritual condition of this town is any different than any other but I do feel strong negative forces at work here. Please pray for the believers here, as I am right now, its hard to live where there is little love. I very much believe we need to by pass leadings that are contrary to the fruit of the spirit and reflect God's love as often as we feel lead, remember faith in God is an individual choice, yes belong to a body but be loyal to the King. God help us all. Daniel

Day 61 (2200 miles)

Hopefully I'm done with the school of hard knox for a while. Just a joke, Knoxville was a very nice city with quite a few nice bike paths. I'm now in Kingston. I visited a Lutheran church yesterday evening, for I was in need of a bible. The secretary was very friendly and not only provided a bible, but some McDonald's gift certificates to. Come to find out their pastor was on a bike ride across TN. this week. Today's sign reads " Jesus loves me this I know, for he rides beside me as I go, simple ones to him belong, I am weak, but he is strong". God is so good. Feel free to email me at daniel.gibbs@yahoo.com any time. Have a great day and God bless. Daniel

Day 60 ( 2150 miles)

The ministry must be doing some good. I've felt attacks physically, mentally, and spiritually. Please pray the holy spirit will grow in strength to meet the new challenges. I'm now west of Knoxville. I had more bike problems. This time the bike shop people only gave me a couple dollars off. I thank God for the faith of the two churches that blessed me over the weekend. This enabled me to get a new sign, and fix the bike. I don't mention you for that way God will bless you later. Last night a church in Blaine TN. asked me to leave their property because their insurance wouldn't allow them to help me. I've been praying for them. Please trust in God for your insurance, we must not let the world dictate our ministries. Thank you for all that have prayed and supported God's word on the back of a bike, it has been seen by thousands. Today's sign uses Rev 3 " behold I stand at the door and knock". Thank you for visiting, have a great day. Yours in Christ Daniel

Day 57 2050 miles (approx)

Virginia sure does have nice bike trails. I just left the creeper trail which went from White Top mountain to Abingdon. I'm actually in the Library there now. Two gentlemen, Cliff and his dad Harry, who I met on the New River trail saw me riding and went and bought me some breakfest. On the way up White top mountain my two low range gears went out. It was hard going up 2000 feet with only high gears. A believing man at the bike shop was delighted to fix my bike for just the cost of the part. God continues to work through believers to keep the bike going. Today's sign reads " Choose this day which God you will serve, as for me and my bike we will serve the Lord". This is a form of Josh 24: 15 . I'm glad to get back on the road after being on the trail. The trail is nice riding, but there is limited exposure for the sign. I did however get quite abit of feed back and some encouraging remarks. Please pray that God will continue to strengthen me in his word and equips me for the tasks ahead. Love in Christ, Daniel W. Gibbs(daniel.gibbs@yahoo.com)

Day 55

This is the day the lord has made let us rejoice and be glad in it. I've been on the New River Bike trail which runs from Pulaski VA. to Galax VA. The trail ran about 52 miles. I was able to share how God is still working in peoples lives to around 10 people. It started with a conversation with a relatively new christian at the store in Drapper. It is a small store, and the man shared with me the struggles to keep it going, but he also acknowledged his many blessings. I hit a spot in the trail where it split. Two preachers and a Deccan happened to be resting there. We shared how God is working in our different ministries and they gave me advice both directionally and spiritually. God is so good. About 20 minutes ago I left a bike repair shop in Galax where the christian man refused payment for a basket and repairs done on my bike. There are so many wonderful God fearing men and woman still working for the Lord today. My email is daniel.gibbs@yahoo.com if you care to contact me. Thankyou for visiting my web site, please pray that God continues to open opportunities for ministry and that I stay spiritually fit to serve, Love Daniel

Initial Posting

At the age of 23, I was lonely and confused, I called upon the Lord with faith for the 1st time and felt the presence of the holy spirit enter my life. Three years ago, after praying for approximately 275 people and situations in which I never forgave or asked for forgiveness, I started hearing God's voice. Despite falling back into sin over and over, God has proven faithful to forgive me of this sin and cleanse me from all unrighteousness.
In the early part of August I left Grand Rapids MI. on a bicycle. I felt God leading me towards Niagara Falls NY. During this journey I had one bicycle stolen and one broke down beyond repair. With God's intervention through loving people new bicycles, food, and clothing were provided, and I arrived a week later. My faith in God and God's people was growing.
After a night of praying, I felt God leading me to Burlington VT. God continued to provide for my every need. As he provided, my faith began to grow. While traveling through the Adirondack mountains one rainy day he lead me to Adirondack Bible Chapel Ministry Center. God used Pastor Ed's teaching in Roman's 6 to open my eyes to the fact that I need to be a slave to righteousness. After a week of studying and serving at the center I continued on my journey. Making it to Burlington, while picking trash up on the side of the road, a man came and asked me to help him. For three days I helped him, and testified to God's faithfulness.
From Burlington I headed to Portland Maine. During the journey, after a flat tire in St.John'sbury I acquired my 4th bicycle. God continued to meet my every need and I started to grow in my desire to serve him. After a soaking rain a kind christian man gave me a ride the last 20 miles into Portland.
From Portland it became obvious that God was doing a work in my heart, and using me to encourage others on the road. After praying I set off for New Mexico. I went through Boston, Providence, Long Island( where God provided my current bicycle), and New York City.
One afternoon a woman in a park in New Jersey asked me which charity I was riding for, she said " you riders usually have a sign for the cause in which you are raising money ." I stated, " I'm riding with, and for the Lord." This was the beginning of Dan's Bicycle Sign Ministry. This woman, by her kindness opened my eyes to the opportunity to serve God in a larger capacity. I made a sign at a McDonald's inside a WalMart and before I left the building God was touching lives. I left to use the rest room and before I came back a note of encouragement was left on the sign.
From there I've went through Philedelphia, Wilmington, Northern Baltimore, and into the Viginias. The sign ministry has opened up opportunity after opportunity to share God's love and encouragment. Now in Radford VA. I thank God for the mercy he has shown me, by giving me an opportunity to serve him in this new way. Sometimes I feel my efforts seem silly, but I see how God can work through this simple ministry, and I am grateful he's giving me yet another chance to serve him.
