Ventura Highway and the Sunshine

About 200 miles to go. I had another flat tire this morning, I'm at a man's house name Sam, I met Sam in Santa Rosa and he said when I got to Ventura to look him up. I'm still having problems with my back rim and tire, and my front tire is worn out.
I had a huge blessing from a church group Wednesday night, they paid for a motel for the night and I had money left to go to a camp ground two nights ago, and to buy a tube for my tire this morning. God is good. I'll try to update in the next 5 days . Love in Christ, Dan

MORE BACK TIRE PROBLEMS

Greetings from beautiful, sunny So Cal. Beautiful sunny day, its been very foggy. I found a cross on the side of the road and I attached it to the back of my bike. I've been looking for what God wanted there, I hope He's pleased. Please pray that I will find safe places to sleep the next 10 days. Also that my back tire issues will resolve, thanks for stopping by, Love in Christ Daniel. I think around 400 miles left, or so

3 Flat tires on the northern coast of CA

After getting a huge blessing in Cresent City, I was able to make it down to Point Arena before getting a flat two days ago. I put a new tube in and it also went flat. I changed the tire and tube and another flat. A replacement tube I had also had a flat. So now I'm going to get some green slime for my rear tire. I hope it will patch the problem my rear rim seems to be causing, things were going so smooth, oh well. Its warmer here some 20 miles or so inland.
The coast didn't have many services, very few stores, and expensive. I'm currently a library and I can see a big 5 sporting goods, I'll restock with food, fix the bike(hopefully), and head towards the golden gate, and back on the coast. Thank you for checking the site, have a great day, Love in Christ, Dan

Brotherly Love

While entering California, I got a flat tire at the Agriculture inspection. After walking 3 or 4 miles a man stopped me and asked me if I needed help. He bought me coffee, and helped me make arrangements to get my tube patched. He also gave me a contribution to help me get that back rim fixed. God is still at work in the hearts of man. There's so many people bicycling along the coast with little money, the bicycle repair man told me how stressing it is on people. As Christians, now more than ever its easy to stick out in a crowd by showing Love. Thank you God for touching the hearts you touched yesterday, thanks for checking in, have a wonderful day, yours in Christ, Daniel

Leaving Oregon

I've made it the 360 or so miles of Oregon coast. In Washington, I took a ferry boat, and a few county buses, but I either peddled or walked, up a couple steep grades, all through the Oregon coast. God is good. Thank you Lord for your provision. This is about my 4th or 5th bicycle adventure. As my 1st adventure, I've decided to read the Bible during breaks. I feel I need the strengthening of His word in my life at this time. If during prayer and meditation, I hear, put the sign up, it will be done God willing. My back rim is still out of whack, but so far its holding up. My right knee has been acting up, but other than that I'm holding up well.
I want to mention the beauty of the Oregon coast, as well as its wonderful state park system. The communities I've visited have been so friendly. Have a great day, yours in Christ, Daniel

Port Orford OR

I'm still doing good. I'm struggling to get back in shape. Up hills are still difficult for me, I have no creeper gear. My 1970's era 10 speed is having back rim problems. Please pray that God will use this journey to draw me closer to him, and that He will continue to meet my needs.( particularly to have my back rim hold up, or to provide a way to get it fixed. Weather is always cloudy, and around 60. I'll try to post as I make my way toward San Diego. Thanks for checking out the site, yours in Christ Daniel

Aug 2009

Sorry about the negative theme of my last post. Thank you however for your prayers. My kidney pain and tooth pain has gone away for now. No treatment is available, so its probably just put on the back burner, but I'm glad its there, and I'm not experiencing the pain.
I decided to take my beat up old ten speed and take it on the road from Bellingham( 20 miles from Canada) to San Diego. I tried to do this last year, but after making it to Red Wood National Park( Near Eureka CA) fires turned me back. I've made it through Washington, through the beautiful Olympic Peninsula,(Olympic National Park), and half way down the coast of Oregon. I'm currently having problems with my rear rim(bad spokes and dents) and I'm praying for a solution to this problem. I stopped at a bicycle shop, and they want at least 23 dollars to fix it. I'm heading to a mission to try to get a place to sleep tonight, then, I'll try to find some work to raise the funds to fix the bike or buy a new old one. While on the road I rarely get the urge to drink or any thing like that, please pray God continues to work on my heart and that He will provide for my needs. Thanks for stopping by, yours in Chris,Dan
