03/2009 Update

Still no work, the bakery show up position didn't work up. I see my kids, Lucas(8) and Lacey(7) once a week. My parents are still letting me stay at their home. I'm in a non custodial parents program looking for work. So many people unemployed up here in Michigan. I hope all is well with you folks.

Sincerely,

Dan

2/09 Post

Hi All,

I've met so many nice people over the past year or so. I'll try to post monthly to let you know whats going on in my life. Things are real bad for work in MI. I'm working at a bakery, you show up in the morning and if the res work they let some of us work. I guess, the longer your there, the better chance you have to work. Sort of a water downed Grapes of Wrath stuff. I have to thank God for the help with food that's available, and the generosity of family members. Have a good day, and you can email me at daniel.gibbs@yahoo.com

Looking for work

Cold weather has blanketed Grand Rapids. With the auto slow down its really difficult to find work. I'm in a program offered by the county that supports us in the process. The instructors have often mentioned that you better get some training if you want to live around here, but you can only get training if you have a job. Friday we start the job search part of the training. I hope to get a 2nd or 3rd shift job, then I can get up to a year training at the local tech school. I hope all is well with any one who visits the site, and may God bless you, yours in Christ

Happy New Year

I reflex back on the past year and I see God so faithful. I was in so many places biking, hiking , and thumbing. God worked through so many nice people. Back home He's allowed me to see my children twice, and I've had many reunions with other relatives. I have a warm place to stay and things to eat. My parents have graciously allowed me to stay in their home. Thank you for all you've done Lord! I'm still looking for work, and hoping for an even more compassionate world in the cumming years. I pray we as a nation can come together and truly use Christ as an example of " one nation under God". Christ came to heal, love, and forgive. I pray many of us can string together many right choices, and that the world will become a kinder, nicer place to live. Lets all try to do unto others as we would have done to ourselves, and when we fail, as I often do, I pray we all absorb The forgiveness Christ died for and that we as a people get closer to God's grace. Thank you God, and thank you Jesus for all your love, mercy, and kindness. Thanks for viewing the site, and have a wonderful new year, daniel.gibbs@yahoo.com

Life back in Michigan

Hi everyone, thank you for looking on the site. Its been cold and snowy up here. A storm system is coming in tonight, and it may leave 10 inches. I've contacted my ex wife, and I may see the children this weekend. I'm still looking for work, so if God so leads you, please pray that I'll find work so that I can take care of my financial responsibilities. If I can pray for any of you please email me at daniel.gibbs@yahoo.com. I thank God for his provision and for the opportunity to met so many nice people. Merry Christmas, and have a happy new year. Yours in Christ, Daniel

Back in Michigan

I'm back where the journey started. Several people I have met on the journey have recently told me that they though it was time I go back home to Michigan and to reunite with my children. All the conflict that was in Michigan when I left is still here now. Some of the problems seemed to have gotten worse. God is still in control. The last week, he has mercifully lead me, and enabled me to make it back to Grand Rapids. I had a meeting with a court worker today, and there going to put me back in to a work program. I've learned so much in the last 16 months. I thank the good people from Johnson City who so generously provided transportation and food for my trip back to Grand Rapids. So many people have helped me over the past months.
When I left Grand Rapids I had around three dollars, a bicycle and a back pack. Three days later all that was taken. Twenty one bicycles later God still provided. I've purposely not given names of those who have helped. Once in a while I would mention an organization. I believe by experience that God will bless people who give unconditionally with a loving heart. So many people have shown me God on earth. God is Love. Thank you all for all your prayers and support. Yours in Christ, Daniel

Has the journey stopped?

I've been praying for an opportunity to reestablish myself and get in out of the heat, the cold, and the rain and snow. It appears my prayers may be being answered here in Keokuk IA. God's Way Christian Center is allowing me to stay in their transitional house, and I've found work thru a temp service. The company I'm working for does hire in. Its a lot of heavy lifting, and you get quite powdery. Please pray that if this is God's will that the doors will continue to stay open, yours in Christ, Dan
